My family and I traveled down south for a vacation some years back and boy was it hot. It makes me wonder how folks can tolerate that kind of heat when it is so intense compared to up north. While in the car on the ride down I could feel my comfort change with the temperature and my parents were always opponents of using the air conditioner installed in the car. Thankfully they have chosen comfort over gas mileage in their recent years and are no longer opposed to turning the cold air on in the car. Once we arrived at our destination I was covered in sweat and anxious to get into the condominium we had rented. The condo was spacious and had two bedrooms, a kitchen, living room and a back patio with a view of a golf course sand trap. As much as I wanted to immediately begin watching frustrated golfers struggle to clear their ball of the sand trap, I needed to cool off first. The air conditioning unit was already on and keeping the place cool prior to our arrival which was a relief. The cold was being pumped into all rooms with central air and at this point I was fairly certain this condo was a step up from our family home. It was so hot outside I don’t think a fan, breeze, or shade would have been a sufficient way to achieve a comfortable and cool temperature. I am certain this trip would have been slightly less enjoyable had there not been an air conditioning unit in the living space we had rented.
