My family and I traveled down south for a trip some years back and boy was it hot. It makes myself and others wonder how folks can tolerate that kind of heat when it is so intense compared to up north. While in the vehicle on the ride down I could think our comfort change with the temperature and our parents were constantly opponents of using the cooling system installed in the car. Thankfully they have chosen comfort over gas mileage in their recent years and are no longer opposed to turning the cold air on in the car. Once both of us arrived at our endpoint I was covered in sweat and sad to get into the condominium both of us had rented. The home was spacious and had many family rooms, a kitchen, living room and a back patio with a view of a hockey course sand trap. As much as I wanted to right away begin enjoying frustrated hockeyers struggle to clear their ball of the sand trap, I needed to cool off first. The a/c unit was already on and keeping the site cool prior to our arrival which was a relief. The cold was being pumped into all rooms with central air and at this point I was fairly particular this home was a step up from our family home. It was so boiling outside I don’t think a fan, breeze, or shade would have been a sufficient way to achieve a comfortable and cool temperature. I am particular this trip would have been slightly less wonderful had there not been an a/c unit in the living space both of us had rented.
