One of the most amazing inventions I’ve seen is the evaporative cooler, or “swamp” cooler. An alternative form of air conditioning, swamp coolers give cool air to a small space, then while normal central air conditioning systems just give cold air, a swamp cooler also dampens the air with added humidity! This is very useful in dry climates, however it can prove destructive in a humid region, that being said, I will say that the portable swamp cooler for my automobile has been invaluable. The air conditioning plan in the truck broke down a few years ago, plus I just haven’t had the money to get it repaired. Then I stumbled across a portable swamp cooler, which seemed as if it could be the right fit for my needs. After all, I was driving through the southwest every month – that’s the hottest, most dry site I could think of! It was a good thing in theory, however I didn’t have any idea if it would be as practical as the advertisements for it made it out to be, however still, I felt the need to give it a shot. The portable swamp cooler essentially just needed batteries to run, plus fresh ice to act as the coolant for air conditioning. I loaded the plan up with ice plus set it in my car, and before long I found that I had to shut the swamp cooler off – it was really working too well! Along with that, the condensation forming on my windows from using the swamp cooler made it so that I had to crack the windows plus use hot air from the automobile to defog the windshield. It’s not often that I can say something works too easy to be useful, however this swamp cooler totally needs to be used in a site that has open air access.
