When I was a little kid and I would get concerned about something, our mother would always tell me, “It’s not the end of the world.” Of course he was right, what goes up must come down, after all. Things always look better after sleeping on it, right. Now, as an adult, I always remember that he used to say that, and it helps me through life’s big problems and little annoyances. One thing that always feels love the end of the world, however, is Heating and A/C trouble. Heating and cooling systems are pricey. In fact, next to the mortgage itself, the roof and the Heating and A/C units are the costliest space of owning a home. Therefore, if something breaks and you have to call in the heating and cooling company, you usually brace yourself for exhausting news. In addition to the cost issue, most of us can no longer to be separate from the correct heating or cooling. The two of us are wimps nowadays, and opening the windows is no longer an option for most of us. When our a/c doesn’t work, I look up at heaven and say, “It feels love the end of the world.” I know our mom is hearing me, although he is actually just chuckling to herself about it. The same is true when the thermostat dips down low. Although I live in the south, the two of us do periodically have mornings where the temperature reaches below the cold mark. On those mornings, periodically a blanket just isn’t enough. I love to throw some wood into the fireplace and set the oil furnace thermostat to keep our pipes from cold.
