I can’t believe that in just two short weeks I’ll be going on vacation and getting away from all of this nasty cold weather. Because every year, I make it a point to fly down to the south in mid December to see my extended family for the holidays. Although we all have to work a lot, and sadly our stay is never as long as every one of us would like, we are all just thankful to see our folks, no matter what it takes. But it’s regularly a little weird on my body though, as I have to switch from wearing my winter-proof boots and a thick parka to sandals and maybe just a light cardigan at night. During the day, I no longer have to turn up the temperature control to turn on the oil furnace in my house office. Instead, I’m increasing the air conditioning at my parent’s beach house so every one of us can stay cool during the midday heat. Instead of seeing snow and then always worrying about when I have to have my next oil oil furnace fill-up, I’m remembering to reapply extra sunblock after I get out from swimming in the ocean and back into the sunshine. Sometimes I worry that I’ll catch a cold just from the temperature difference, but the awesome heating and A/C method at my parent’s home keeps us all thoroughly comfortable. Plus, everytime I come to visit, the central air conditioner is really working in perfect shape; they simply never have an A/C breakdown, even though they run it just about year round without pause. This is because they get their annual heating and A/C maintenance. This is something they’ve passed onto myself and my siblings as well. Though every one of us live on opposite ends of the country now, my parents and my siblings still have one thing n common: every one of us regularly makes sure to book our annual heating and cooling service appointments so our heating and A/C systems work perfectly when we all need them most.
