I thoroughly enjoy doing what I love, but that is not to say my particular line of work doesn’t come without its struggles or problems. However, I certainly have the courage and conviction to work to overcome said problems. I am the manager of the very last remaining vintage bookstore left in my state. This store is old enough to be a part of this state’s heritage and I hope to leave it for future generations to come. In the end, people are still coming in to buy the books, but we do try to keep their handling of these vintage books at a minimum. We want the customers to be able to get a good look at the books before they buy, but we also want to keep all of our texts as close to their original condition as possible. If they are handled too much by customers, they will gradually begin to lose their value. One of the things that helps the most in keeping my stock of vintage books in superior condition is the use and maintenance of our climate control system. This heating and cooling system maintains the ideal temperature within the shop, but does far more than that; it also cleans and adjusting the dampness of the air. Our climate control system features both an air purification system as well as a dehumidifier and humidifier unit for our particular needs. Thus equipped the HVAC system can filter out contaminants and pollutants from the air, in addition to keeping the air from getting too much moisture. Dry and clean air greatly extends the life our books, and thusly our bookstore, and that makes me quite happy.
