That is all in the past now

My father-in-law just got an up-to-dated heating and air conditioning unit.  He has had the same heating and cooling plan for over 20 years. The old guy absolutely did get his money’s worth out of that heating and air conditioning system.  I thought it would keel over and die a decade ago. But, my father-in-law nursed it along. He told myself and my partner he absolutely thought he would croak himself before he replaced the gas furnace and air conditioning.  I’m cheerful he outlived it, yet it has been quite a task getting the up-to-dated gas furnace and air conditioning unit installed. My father-in-law can be a cantankerous cheapskate of the highest order. But, in a fantastic way.  He’s not evil or obnoxious but, boy he can be stubborn. The heating and air conditioning company proposed replacing the HVAC ducts in his lake house. My father-in-law was having none of it. The ducts were original to the lake home as well as had absolutely served their purpose.  I couldn’t convince him to replace them. So, the two of us came to a compromise by allowing a duct cleaning crew to come in. They would disinfect out decades of junk accumulated in the ducts. More importantly, they would seal all the gaps along each segment joint of the HVAC ducts.  This was the area I knew was imperative. Once that hurdle was overcome, the gas furnace and air conditioning replacement could begin. Everything was put in as well as ready to go. My father-in-law was super triumphant with the price he had gained for the whole package. The heating and air conditioning guy was cheerful to have triumphant a valued customer.  But, then came another roadblock. My father-in-law balked at signing up for the service program. He doesn’t prefer signing up for anything. He would much rather schedule an appointment. Yet, the warranty stated clearly he had to have professional, scheduled service. With a bit more coaxing, everybody was finally able to go home glad.
