Living in the warm South can be a dream come true if you prefer the sun. But, if you are more of a fall and cool rain person, I don’t advocate it. I moved here some years ago. Following the steps of my northern friends, I finished up a job plus went to the sun with my wife. It was a bonus round move on our part. We found a small loft in a small town. This worked perfectly for myself and my wife at first. Then, I started slowing down a bit plus wasn’t enjoying the outdoors as much. That turn of events also had a debilitating effect on my psyche. So, I built a sunroom. Another master stroke idea, if I do say so myself. The only downside is no HVAC in our sunroom. There is a definite chill in the Wintertide, but the summertime is almost too sweltering to use the sunroom at all. I can’t afford to extend the HVAC ducts out into the sunroom. Calling my local HVAC company for fixes was the right move. A legitimately nice heating and cooling expert came to our loft to help myself and my wife choose the best fit. He showed the two of us an HVAC model I had never seen before. The mini-split ductless HVAC unit is a duct-free alternative which provides excellent temperature control. However, the mini split was a bit more pricey than our budget could handle. We chose, instead, to purchase a modern portable air conditioning unit. The portable air conditioning will be effective, plus she and I can move it around to accommodate our needs in the sunroom. I will continue to knock the chill off the sunroom in the Wintertide with my handy electric heater. Yet, I will begin saving for the mini-split heating and cooling unit. The older I get, the less I am going to want to hassle with the portable AC unit. Plus, I love the notion of my wife and I lounging in our sunroom with the remote climate control unit to the mini split HVAC right at hand.
